Ed Gillum was born in Miami Beach and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Political Science/International Relations. He has been coming to the island since the late 1970's, and he moved here year-round from London over twenty-five years ago after working in Europe and Australia for several years. Service oriented with a background in finance, Ed has represented buyers and sellers and renters of Nantucket real estate for well over 25 years with his customary keen attention to detail and analysis. Believing in the importance of community service and having an avid appreciation of the history and architecture of Nantucket, Ed actively supports the Nantucket Atheneum, the Nantucket Historical Association, the Maria Mitchell Association's Women in Science program, the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, Nantucket Community Sailing, and the Nantucket New School as well as several other Nantucket non-profits. He is a member of St. Paul's Church, Treasurer of The Union Lodge, and on a board committee at The Westmoor Club. He and his British wife Sarah are also greatly involved with raising their three very active island girls Beatrice, Celia, and Lydia. When not at the office or working with his clients, Ed can most likely be found with one of them at a performance or an art exhibition, at the Westmoor pool or tennis courts, or at one of the many great Nantucket beaches!

Why Nantucket:
Where else would one find such a wonderful and diverse and sophisticated a community in a place that has retained such historical ambience, that has preserved over 50% of its land in conservation, that is surrounded by over 70 miles of beaches only 30 miles offshore one of the greatest countries in the world? With a choice between that and the Scilly Isles off of Cornwall, I won the coin toss!
Best part of J Pepper Frazier Real Estate:
That has got to be the people that make up the team here complete with many different skillsets important to serving and collaborating with our clients who are at the top of their game as well.
Best Event on ACK:
In the summer season that has got to be the picnic watching the Boston Pops performing right on Jetties Beach with the 1812 Overture and fireworks finale. It's also a very worthwhile fundraiser for our Nantucket Cottage Hospital, which serves both young and old and both our seasonal and year-round population. In the off-season, it has to be the annual Thanksgiving Cold Turkey Plunge fundraiser for the Atheneum's Weezie Library for Children - "Freezing for a Reason" as the motto goes.
Activities:
Swimming (Swim Across America), the Westmoor Club, some bike riding and playing with the waves in the surf when time permits, "Rantum Scooting" around the island in general, and sunset toasts with my gals in the summer at one of the North Shore beaches.
Restaurants:
It all depends on what time of the day and what I feel like eating. We are spoiled for choice on Nantucket with world-class restaurants, and we even have a Culinary Arts Center right in the heart of Town.
Beaches:
Swimming on the North Shore at the Steps Beach near the Cliffside or playing in the waves on the South Shore preferably behind Bartlett's Farm at "Ladies Beach" - and there's always those beautiful sunsets at Madaket Beach!
Childhood Dream Job:
As a young boy I probably wanted to be an astronaut travelling to a new constellation or a deep-sea diver exploring marine life and looking for pirate treasure in some exotic land. I kind of got my wish here on Nantucket Island when I look up into the canopy of stars on a clear summer night, or when I play in the Atlantic Ocean surf or sometimes dive for tasty bay scallops in the Autumn!
