Holiday Season
Those of us in the real estate business always acknowledge that business is slow at this time of year. For us on the island, we are enjoying a bit of down time to spend with our friends and families. We want to let you know that we appreciate all of the buyers, sellers, tenants, and landlords that have worked with us over the past season and wish you all a wonderful holiday season. That said, we are still very eager to assist you in any of your real estate needs and are available at the drop of a hat. |

Upbeat Housing News for a Down Day
Jim Cramer, financial wizard on The Street, is feeling a bit optimistic about the housing market. According to his research- fewer homes will be built this year than in 1990-440,000- yet we have 60 million more people in the country. Each year approx 860,000 new households get formed in the US, almost double the number of new homes. | NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER |
Now for the tricky part. Inflation, deflation or stagflation?
Certainly the housing market could not withstand higher interest rates causing deflation; so all, or, at least most indicators point to even lower interest rates causing inflation. However, with Hank 'the hand-out' Paulson printing money at the fastest rate in U.S. history, the value of the green back will have to decrease, and as its value decreases, in order to attract foreign buyers, the Fed will have to sell treasury bills at higher rates. So with these two factors butting heads against each other, my money is on stagflation. It's going to be interesting. |
