Downtown Sewer Renovations
The town crews have made progress on Main St, Liberty St, and Orange St, but will continue upgrading the sewer system downtown throughout the entire month of March. The temporary asphalt patching of the road cuts is not permanent. The cobblestones will be replaced upon completion of each phase of the project. |

Options to Purchase Real Estate
An option to purchase real estate is an agreement that has recently been in the news. The variances & laws are state specific. Before entering into an agreement, buyers should obtain the advice of a real estate lawyer. The details below are an overview and are not meant to be legal advice. The way it works is that a buyer can pay a seller option money for the right to later purchase property. This option money may be as little as $1. Buyer and seller may agree to a purchase price now or the buyer may agree to pay market value at the time the option is exercised. Most buyers want to lock in the future purchase price upon inception of the option. Although negotiable, the common length is generally 1-3 years. Option money is rarely refundable. Nobody else can buy the property during the option period. The buyer can sell the option to somebody else. If the buyer does not exercise the option and purchase the property at the end of the option, the option expires. The buyer is not obligated to buy the property. This is one of many types of options and most points of the option are negotiable.

Fiscal Responsibility?
Let's see. I know I've heard those words before; let me quickly grab my lexicon. Ah yes. There they are. Fiscal responsibility. Have you ever seen such irresponsibility, and, I mean from both sides of the aisle. Bush bailing out AIG, GM, Chrysler, Citi; you name it. Obama's stimulus package with so much pork in it, they ought to make Jimmy Dean Secretary of the Treasury. Rewriting bad mortgages. Where is the responsibility? Culpability, if you will. My advise. Stick to good real estate, gold, silver and some foreign currencies. |
