Daffodil Weekend: April 24th-April 26th
Please join us in celebrating Spring. The tradition was started by Jean MacAusland, a summer resident and former publisher of Gourmet magazine. Daffodils are blooming all over the island. There will be a children's parade, a dog parade, and an antique car parade on Saturday (rain or shine) that winds through town ending in 'Sconset. Once in 'Sconset, many residents have a picnic, ranging from a lunch box to a gourmet feast. It is a great island tradition. |

Long Weekends in June
There is no better time to come look at real estate or relax on the island. The real estate offices have just listed the new listings of the season. All of the houses on the market have just been opened up, the grounds have been landscaped, and the rental tenants have not arrived yet. We have a few adorable houses that are ready for a long weekend tenant for approximately $400 a night. This is the most affordable time to come to the island. The ferries aren't crowded, the beaches are vacant, the restaurants offer specials. Consider a long weekend rental in June, we would love to help you find a place to stay. |

| NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER |
Good News on the Horizon?
Okay. So you think you know what precursors a real estate turn around. Interest rates? Helpful, but no. Inventory? Again helpful, but no. Commercial vacancy rates in small cities? Not a big factor. The answer (drum rolls) kids, is advance lumber orders. And guess what? They're up. Way up. For thirty years potential buyers have told me that Nantucket real estate prices are over valued, and these potential buyers are still just that potential (maybe) buyers. |
