Great Harbor Yacht Club Officially Open
The first yacht club built on Nantucket in over 100 years, GHYC commenced in 2003 with sailing programs and social events for its early members. The club broke ground in 2004 for the construction of its waterfront facilities, which became fully operational in 2008. In 2007, GHYC acquired the Nantucket Tennis & Swim Center. June 2009 marked the final phase of GHYC's development when the Clubhouse was unveiled. The club is hosting an open house this week, and a launch party in early August. |

Inventory
As of July 10th, there were 450 single family homes on the market, 67 condos, 30 commercial buildings, and 100 parcels of vacant land. There are approximately 11,000 dwellings on the island, therefore approximately 6% of the island's real estate is on the market. This is slightly less than the same time last summer. In our opinion there are at least 100 properties that, are priced appropriately, located in great neighborhoods, and are prime deals. Data courtesy of LINK NANTUCKET. |

Cisco Brewery
Even in a trying economic time, Cisco Brewery is pulling out in front of the pack. Having started making and selling barrels of whiskey (in partnership with a wise and talented Scottish distiller) several years ago at an entry price of $3,000 per barrel, they are now successfully selling individual bottles for $888- their signature Triple 8 lucky number. The early investors are certainly ecstatic; if you want to get in on the action now, there is currently a waiting list and the current price for a barrel is $6,000. |

| NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER |
Sending the JV Team on a Varsity Mission
Soon, I expect, the New York Times' presses will say 'no mas', and call it a day. Why? Loss of readership (read revenue) caused by irresponsible articles, half-assed reporting, and, as far as I can tell, unbelievably inept fact checking. Recently 'the paper of record' wrote a screed on Nantucket real estate. Who did they send to the plate? Did they send the Ted Williams or Sultan of Swat of the industry- modesty prevents me from revealing who this is. No. But rather the Pumpsie Greens and Mario Mendozas (He of the Mendoza Line, which is when a player is hitting below .200).
What a crock. I hope I don't get sued by Mario Mendoza. |
