Fall on Nantucket
Cranberries have been grown on Nantucket since 1857 and the Cranberry festival celebrates the tradition Columbus Day weekend.
Did you know that small pockets of air inside the cranberry cause it to bounce and to float in water?
The cranberry is one of three fruits native to North America. The other two are the Concord grape and the blueberry.
The average number of cranberries used to make a can of cranberry
sauce is 200.

| NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER |
"The Amech"
Now, if you're at Baskin-Robbins, a double dip is a good thing; however, if you're coming out of a recession, it is a decidedly bad thing. So are we going to see the feared double dip (also known as a "W" shaped recovery)? Mr. Stock Market, and some of the smartest minds on the Street don't think so. The smart guys are loading up on tangibles: Gold, copper, silver, real estate, autographed pictures of Don Ameche and Mr. Ed, stuff you can get your fingers around. Gold, copper and silver do not produce income or tax benefits, of course, nor do the pictures of Mr. Ed and The Amech, but you do get the sheer joy of them hanging around. A key sign of a "V" shaped recovery is the heating up of the M&A and IPO markets. The best play around? Long on real estate. The worst play around? Long on natural gas. |
