| ISLAND HAPPENINGS |
Our favorite meal of the year...
Thursday, October 1st was the first day of family Scalloping season. Favorite island spots include the waters off Monomoy, Fulling Mill, Pocomo, and Madaket. Although the waters are cold, there are scallops a plenty according to the locals. Snorkeling or diving is preferred to the raking method by JPFCO scallopers. For a quick recipe, just add some garlic salt, lemon juice, and butter along with scallops to an oven proof dish and put them under the broiler until they start to turn golden, about 3 minutes. If you would like Nantucket Bay Scallops Fed-ex'ed to you, contact your favorite local fish store. |

| NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER |
A visit to another beautiful place...
As many of you have probably surmised, I am a real estate junkie. No, not a confession, just a fact. So, when I'm in foreign (not Nantucket) jurisdictions, I do what comes naturally. I sniff around. Right now I'm in Bermuda ,or to be more precise, Tucker's Town. Although smaller, more expensive, and much more international, real estate in Tucker's Town mirrors Nantucket as closely as any place I know. And, guess what? There is not a single house for sale. Tell you anything? Well it should. The rich are holding on to hard assets. The dollar is becoming increasingly worthless and is in danger of being replaced as the world's currency. Do you think it is bychance that gold is busting past $1,000? I'm tellin' ya mate, hard assets.. So hold onto those autographed pictures of Mr. Ed and go long Nantucket real estate. |
