NANTUCKET REAL ESTATE BUZZ
There's More to Nantucket Than...

Great beaches, swimming, biking, dining, shopping and on and on.

Nantucket has an amazing community, year-round and summer alike. Whenever Nantucket faces adversity, the community comes together as one. There are Always, with a capital "A", people willing to lend a hand. Hurricane Sandy has been no different- "Do you need a hand buttoning down the hatches?", "Is your family okay?", "Let me know what I can do to help.", etc. I feel so fortunate to live in such a community, as the feeling of unity is very comforting. Sandy was a big one for many, but Nantucket was spared for the most part. I, as well as I'm sure the rest of the Nantucket community, send our warmest prayers and best wishes to those who were adversely affected!

RENTAL MARKET UPDATE
  Holiday Rentals

Nantucket is apparently the spot to spend the Holidays this year. We have quite a few Thanksgiving and Stroll rentals and even some New Years stays booked. Some think this uptick in Holiday rentals is because the summer was so busy, people didn't get their fill of Nantucket, and are coming back for more. Others surmise that all the Holiday events are the draw. The list of Nantucket events is long and stretches from just before Thanksgiving until New Years. This year included in the events is the new Nantucket Hotel. The hotel is offering Thanksgiving dinner, Stroll events, Christmas dinner, and a New Year's Ball.

If you haven't made your Nantucket Holiday plans yet, contact your favorite JPFCO Agent today!

NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER
  Fuzzy Hats

Hmm. What to write about? Picture The Thinker drumming his fingers on the ol' noggin. The Cranium. Wait, that's it! Manna from Heaven! Deus ex Machina! The cranium. Cranes. They're building a new bridge to Boca Grande which has caused a preponderance of cranes. Every time you go on or off the Island, there they are. Great lurking Erector Sets. And oh, another thing, during the coverage of Storm Sandy, the star of the show was a crane hanging precariously off a mid-town Manhattan luxury high-rise. They said the building was on 7th Avenue in the 40's and that one apartment recently sold for $100,000,000.

Now Russians or no Russians, that's a lot of coin. Apparently the Ruskis bought over half the co-ops in The Plaza Hotel. Imagine if they ever discovered Nantucket. Heck, a little Borscht on the menus would be a good thing, not to mention fuzzy hats. Seemingly they will pay anything for prime real estate (7th Av., prime?), which includes custom made sea-going vessels. I can't blame them; anything to get the rubles away from the grasp of Vlad the Impaler. Robert Benchley had the Russians invading 'Sconset in the 1950's. It could happen again.
