GROUND NOTES FROM DALTON
  The Nantucket Craftsman

So, the Grey Lady got hit hard by Blizzard Juno, but she weathered it well. Not only did she weather it well, Nantucketers weathered it well and came together to help each other out. I heard of many instances where there were open invites to come over from homeowners with power to homeowners without power. One part of these storms that always really interests me, though, is there is rarely any damage to houses by the actual storm; yes, erosion and every now and then tree limbs do damage, but the Nantucket houses weather these storms amazingly. Some of these houses are 100 - 200+ years old and they don't even have a shingle blow off. Really goes to show the Nantucket craftsman did and still does know what he is doing.

Off to Scottsdale - go Pats!!!

LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN WITH PEPPER II
  Ready Buyer/Not So Ready Seller

A Seller puts his house on the market but wants to find a replacement property before committing to selling their property. We bring a Buyer who wants to close and use the property. The Seller has not found a target property and currently does not have the time to search for their upgrade. Time to make it happen.

Buyer drafts P&S and delivers to the Seller. Buyer agrees to let the Seller use the house for 2 weeks during the summer. This gives the Buyer the house they want and buys time for the Seller to find a replacement property. This is how JPFCO made it happen.

RENTAL MARKET UPDATE
  A Summer Rental

As we continue to dig out from storm Juno and with the possibility of more snow this weekend, it is hard to imagine that Spring and Summer are just around the corner. After a few days without power our office is back up and running and we are busy booking rentals! Although in-town rentals tend to book up more quickly we still have some great properties with some great availability. The following link is a charming in-town three bedroom antique with a large private side yard/patio space and off street parking for one car.

Currently available June and September weeks for $6,200/wk and July and August weeks for $7,200/wk. Please feel free to contact your favorite agent or our office at 508-228- 3202 with any questions about this or any other property.

NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER
  Broken Fingers

Well there's no question that things are really crankin' in both Boca Grande and Nantucket. Boca Grande is easy to tell because there are very few 'For Sale' signs and a plethora of 'Sold' signs. Now, Nantucket, on the other hand, does not allow real estate signs. A very good and civilized idea. In Nantucket no matter how wealthy or, well not poor (but you know what I mean), everybody feeds off real estate. And just as in Cicero Ill. where everybody knew who owed what, a similar situation exists in Nantucket, everybody knows who's doing what in real estate. And oh yes, in Cicero, who was in arrears. A very bad thing to be in Cicero.

I think I've stated the obvious, but what is not so obvious is all the extracurricular stuff out there. Just last week, I went to one of the best Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey circuses I've ever been to, and I've been to a bunch. In fact, because our father was a very prominent guy in the entertainment business, my brother and I had our own box in Madison Square Garden to which Emmett Kelly would climb up and visit us during the show. Double Nirvana: Emmett Kelly was also the clown for our beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. Last week was a one ring circus without the endless array of shirtless (a wee bit chilly eh?) cossacks jumping up and down on the backs of their horses and throwing open their arms yelling: Hey! Stimulating stuff that but none of it. Also last week, I saw one of the best Beach Boys' concerts ever. Mike Love et al sang for 2.5 straight hours. What a book of songs.

Get to Hidden Treasures of Nantucket next time.
