  Off to a Strong Start

Despite many weekends over the winter having high winds and storms causing the boats and planes to be cancelled, so buyers simply could not make it here, the market still had a solid first half. Total volume was $375mm compared to $420mm in '16 and $318mm in '15, which both ended strongly. Factor in pent up demand from the winter, the equity markets, which the Nantucket market is directly tied to, being at all time highs and that Nantucket is one of the most amazing places in the world, we should see a big second half.

Sometimes people say it's a pain to get here and it can be, I've definitely been stranded on the mainland, but as the saying goes, the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory. This place is firing!

  Donating a House

Laid bACK eating at the shACK another great day another deal coming our way. We love to make it happen!!! We did a deal where both Seller and Buyer benefit in multiple ways the JPFCO way. The Buyer is purchasing a tear down for the neighborhood and would prefer to have the lot vacant. Time to make it happen. We propose the Seller donate the house to The Nantucket Housing Authority and receive a tax credit for the donation. The Seller donates the house, someone buys the house from The Nantucket Housing Authority. Now this is how you make it happen. The Seller receives a tax credit, The Nantucket Housing Authority receives some dough, the Buyer has a clean lot and one more family has a roof over their heads. JPFCO all the way everyday. Happy 4th!!!

It's 4th of July on Nantucket!!!

Celebrate Independence Day downtown and join in on great fun! This year celebratory fireworks will take place on Monday, July 3rd at 9pm. Nantucket's fabulous fireworks display is shot off from a barge off of Jetties Beach. If you need a ride to Jetties beach, Catch the Wave in front of the Whaling Museum on broad Street; buses will depart every 10-15 minutes starting at 6pm. Fare is $1 each way. (Rain date, Wed. July 5)

Don't stay out too late because you are going to want to start your 4th off on Main Street, the fun begins at 10am. Follow the sounds of trumpets playing and fire engine sirens singing, all announcing that the festivities are about to begin! Enjoy the dunk tank, watermelon eating contest, face painting, pie-eating contest, Matt Fee tea toss, puppet show and of course, the funnest finale ever? The water fight to end all water fights! Get ready to get wet and have a ball! Then pack a picnic and head to any one of the fabulous beaches around the island, 4th of July is an amazing time of year and one of the most festive days of summer on Nantucket.

If you get the pleasure of spending the 4th on Nantucket, count your blessings because you're one of the lucky ones!

  Nehru Jacket

Just when you thought it was safe. Just when you thought it was Okay to venture out of your house. Just when you thought it had gone the way of the Pterodactyl, Bell Bottoms, the DoDo Bird, the PooPoo Cushion, autographed pictures of Mr. Ed, and let us not forget the ultra hilarious hand buzzer. And since we're on the subject of sartorial splendor let's include Harold Stassen's rug. Also Che Guevera tee shirts, but no. There he was in living color and twice as disgustin', sitting next to our President, Donald H.W. Trump, Yes Siree, the Prime Minister of India wearing a (are you sitting down?) Nehru Jacket.

They say style never goes out of fashion and I would concur. But what does that have to do with a Nehru Jacket? As my father wrote: 'Not even Nehru wore a Nehru Jacket.' So remember to put one leg in front of the other when donning Les Pantalonas. Of course, if the pantalonas are already occupied that could lead to a serious altercation, but as Humphrey Bogart said: "It could be the start of a great friendship." Something along those lines. So look first, before donning El Pantalonas. There's no telling, Lloyd Bridges could be lurking inside.
