GROUND NOTES FROM DALTON
  Under Construction

The building boom continues on Island, which has its pluses and minuses. The main plus is it fuels the local economy (and I get to see the cutting edge house/landscape designs, materials, craftmanship, etc. :-). The main minus is the disturbance it causes the surrounding area.

There used to be an unwritten rule to pare back exterior construction in the denser districts of Nantucket, like the Residential Old Historic (ROH) district, June 15 - Labor Day; it was common courtesy. Now, there are exterior sites going full bore all over these areas. I understand people want their homes done and there were lost work hours due to weather this past winter/spring so there were delays, but, regardless, they are missing this season anyways. Should there be a Town ordinance regarding exterior construction June 15 - Labor Day? debatable; I like small government, free markets and by no means depriving someone from making a living. Should there be common courtesy? Always.

The market continues to be strong.

LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN WITH PEPPER II
  Fencing

Make way for a positive day, ACK all the way. The Summer is in full effect. The Island is very much a dog friendly Island from the water bowls running downtown to the planes/boats that will carry them around. Team JPFCO sold a house to another wonderful family. Right after the closing The family got a puppy but the property was not fenced in; The landscapers were booked. Time to make it happen JPFCO style as our friends are our clients and our clients are our friends. Team JPFCO rallies the troops and takes post hole diggers, 4x4's, fencing etc... We fence in the yard so the puppy can play. This is how we make it happen at JPFCO. Happy August!!!

  Family Fun

It's high season on Nantucket and summer is in full swing! There are so many fun things to do while on island, especially for families and little ones! Festive summer favorites are the open air concerts and films held at Children's Beach! The Sunday night concert series starts at 6pm and new for this year, the season will be extended to Mid-September and all events are free! Friday night music and flix is a delightful, family friendly evening of amusement that starts with a concert at 6pm, karaoke at 7pm followed by a movie at 8:30pm in July and 8:00pm in August.

Don't forget the Hungry Minnow for snacks and drinks while you're there. If evening's don't work for you and your crew or you're hungry for more play, Saturday's at Children's Beach are yet another great opportunity for kid-approved entertainment of games and activities; enjoy Spikeball, musical chairs, kite making, hula hoops, jump rope, badminton, volleyball and kickball. NOTES FROM PEPPER THE ELDER
  Plants

Flora. I love them. Particularly the ones associated with Nantucket. With the possible exception of the Azores, I have never seen anything like Nantucket. The aromas, the colors, the pure lushness. Sui generis. Man. It is said, "No man is an island. "Probably true, but a man can get lost in his garden. Blissfully so. Nantucket, particularly 'Sconset, is a Garden of Eden for plants. Roses, Hedges. I know of nothing quite like them. Privet hedges don't have any spectacular color but, man oh man, are they fragrant. Is it the soil? Partially, of course, but I think it is the mingling of salt air and misty days that nurtures flora to a height of, to me at least, nirvana. And, guess what? I'll take nirvana.
