 | | The STR Saga Continues... | Recently, a Massachusetts Land Court judge ruled that short-term rentals (STRs), which are rentals less than 31 days, are prohibited in the Residential Old Historic (ROH) District. This is not the end of the world because ROH is only one of 23 zoning districts on Nantucket, but it is unfortunate because residents of Nantucket actually voted in favor of codifying STRs as an allowed use in Nantucket's zoning code by a 468 to 321 vote at the May Town Meeting. However, since the article did not receive the needed two thirds vote, which is required for a change to the zoning code, the article did not pass. The ruling has been appealed by the Town of Nantucket, so the saga continues...
