The guest house at "Seward's Folly" on 9 Berkeley Street is located in the Tom Nevers area of beautiful Nantucket Island. Built in 2003, the house is a spacious and comfortable abode which offers all amenities. Custom built by one of Nantucket's foremost master builders, the home boasts yellow pine floors, two covered porches, and several other special features. The perimeter of the house is professionally landscaped and surrounded by trees, affording much privacy. There is a side entrance to the house which is conveniently located next to the driveway which fits up to four vehicles. There is a gas grill on the back porch and an outdoor enclosed shower.

First Floor Description

Inside, the house has recessed lighting throughout. The first floor consists of a completely outfitted kitchen that includes a pantry, a large double sliding door closet with multiple shelves and room for hanging coats, and a tiled mudroom area with a custom-made built-in bench. The kitchen itself has a mahogany bar with four barstools that opens into the dining area which has sliding glass doors, overlooking the back covered porch. The dining area pours into the living room, and both areas have post and beam fir ceilings. The living space has a beautiful hearth fireplace and stereo system, and one of the two couches pulls out into a bed for extra sleeping capacity. On the first floor is also a powder room down the hallway from the kitchen for convenience. The open plan of the first floor of this guest house allows for a great entertaining area.

Second Floor Description

The second floor of the guest house consists of two bedroom suites, each with their own fully appointed bathrooms, ceiling fans, 20" televisions with VCR's, and a phone. On this floor is a linen closet in the hallway that is situated next to a small reading room or sitting area (with a skylight) that can be converted into an extra sleeping space for one person. This room (as well as many others) also has high-speed internet access through a cable jack and a phone in case the room needs to be used as an office setting during your stay.

Lower Floor Description

In the basement is a unique area. There is a full kitchen, laundry closet with full size washer and dryer, an entertainment center (with stereo system, DVD player, and a 32" TV), and a full bathroom. The floors are tiled in Italian tile and there are two large closets which offer much storage space. This area can be transitioned into an additional sleeping quarters as it has a pull- out couch . Partitioning off the kitchen from the living space is another mahogany bar with four barstools, also making this area of the house ideal for entertaining as well. The guest house at "Seward's Folly" was designed to be a functional and comfortable living space, offering many opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment during your Nantucket vacation.
