Historic Skyemoor, originally built in 1694, is one of the 50 oldest houses on the island. Built by the Macy family, who arrived on Nantucket with the first settlers, Skyemoor is steeped in island history and culture, played host to Herman Melville and others, as well as served as the home of wealthy Whaling Captains throughout Nantucket's whaling golden age. Today, Skyemoor is the perfect family home, having been tastefully and carefully renovated to provide modern conveniences without losing its antique roots. The house sits high up on Main Street, at the head of town and central to all that Nantucket has to offer. Charming shops, fine dining restaurants, and beautiful beaches are all just moments away. The house has a private garden accessible only to Skyemoor. Skyemoor has an attached cottage that shares a wall with the main house, and runs down the side street of Gardner Avenue. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, and depending on the time of year, it can be rented along with the main house to provide a total of 9 bedrooms for large groups or families. Most of the time the back cottage is leased to respectful island professionals who have limited contact with anyone from the main house, as their entrance is separate.

First Floor Description

Step into the main entry. To the left is an en suite bedroom with a queen size bed and a bathroom with shower. To the right of the entry is an open living, dining and kitchen area. The dining table has seating for 8 people (there is additional seating to accomodate a larger group). The kitchen is brand new with high end appliances and a kitchen island with counter seating. Off the dining area are two armchairs next to the fireplace and French doors that lead to the outdoor space. There is access to a second bedroom here with a full-size bed and a hall bathroom with tiled shower.

Second Floor Description

Stairs lead to the second-floor landing. To the left is a guestroom with a queen size bed. Toward the front of the house is guestroom with two twin beds and a crib. These bedrooms share a hall bath with tiled shower, double vanity, and a washer/dryer unit. The primary suite has a king size bed and a bathroom with a double vanity, a large glass enclosed shower and soaking tub.

Third Floor Description

The third floor has two twin beds, each with trundles. There is a full bath on this level with a tiled shower.
