Nantucket achieved an amazing accomplishment a few weeks ago, she was named the #1 island in the world by National Georgraphic (PHOTOS). I know some people think that is crazy (how about Hawaii, Idonesia, Virgin Islands, etc.), but having been fortunate to travel quite a bit of the world and see some amazing places (many islands included), I whole’heartedly agree with NG. What other island in the world is 60% conservation land, has many different landscapes from the Moors, to the Hummocks, to the different beaches, to the Atlantic, to the ponds, etc., has so many activities-hike, bike, swim, fish, sail, race, festivals…, has one of the most amazing historic towns in the world protected by one of the toughest (for better or worse) historic town boards in the country and probably the world, has world class beaches, shopping, 70+ restaurants and has amazing year-round and summer communities that care deeply for her? None come to mind.
Also, while we are at top spots, the Grey Lady nabbed another one-according to CNBC, she is the richest county in the country.
So both National Geographic and CNBC agree, Nantucket is top dog.
I feel blessed to be able to live here and in the United State of America!
Happy Fourth of July!!!
